The Association of Classical Accordion Students – Pula was established in 2004 with the aim to consider student needs/desires and to realize them much better and more clearly. The first Chair included: Igor Krizman – President, Tamara Ignjatović – Vice-President and Nada Krznar – Secretary. After the initial enthusiasm, their activities stagnated, but new members renewed the Association in 2009 and elected the second Chair: Zoran Maršić - President, Stjepan Vuger – Vice-President and Marija Vukoja - Secretary. When their term of office expired, the new members were elected as follows: Marija Ostrugač – President, Bartol Buljan – Vice-President, Mateja Pranjić – Secretary.
The essential goals of the Association of Classical Accordion Students include:
- influencing the quality of the study programme and respecting student rights
- efficiently taking care of student education, social, cultural and other interests (their realization)
- participating in the activities of the Department of Classical Accordion, Juraj Dobrila University in Pula
- participating in the activities of the Juraj Dobrila University in Pula
- linking and cooperating with all related professional organizations in the Republic of Croatia and the world, as well as cooperating with other associations of students and young people in the Republic of Croatia and the world
- protecting the standard and social status of students
- protecting the dignity of musicians
- cooperating with Croatian composers to expand and promote original literature for the classical accordion, and thus the Croatian music heritage, and to promote the instrument itself
In order to accomplish the goals stated above, the Association is responsible for the following activities:
- helping students in the fulfilment of their rights
- informing students about their professional training through the organization of seminars, forums
- organizing lectures, roundtables and forums related to the contents and organization of the classical accordion study, as well as professional trips and other travels with regard to their profession
- organizing cultural-artistic, entertaining and other programmes
- enabling extra-curricular work of the accordion orchestra – Juraj Dobrila University in Pula (participation at national and international competitions, music forums and different events)
- conducting other activities necessary for accomplishing the goals of the Association
