BIOGRAPHY:
Gordana Dobravac from Rovinj, earned a BA degree in English and Italian language and literature at the University of Zagreb in 2002. As a result of her interest in the cognitive neuroscience perspectives of foreign language learning, she enrolled in the interdisciplinary PhD program Language and Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Zagreb and in 2012 earned a PhD degree in cognitive science. She worked as an English teacher in few schools since 2001, while collaborating with the Laboratory for Psycholinguistic Research, at the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Zagreb, taking part in projects related to language learning and processing from 2001 to 2010. After returning to Rovinj, she started to work as a collaborator at the Faculty of Educational Sciences at the Juraj Dobrila University of Pula in 2015, and subsequently obtaining a postdoctoral position at the Faculty in April 2016.
Her research interests involving psycholinguistic and neurolinguistic aspects of foreign language learning resulted in the participation at numerous national and international scientific conferences and workshops, and in delivering various lectures in the country and abroad on the mentioned topics. She is the author of two scientific and two professional papers, a small English-Croatian and Croatian-English dictionary, coauthor of the Croatian edition of The Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test and editor of five dictionaries. She was a scholar funded by the Croatian Science Foundation (2006) and by the Fulbright foundation (Pre-Doctoral Research, 2007), and she enriched her education and research training at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, USA and the University of Houston, Houston, USA.
